A quirky noir musical from one of cinema’s most outspoken cinephiles, NEW YORK, NEW YORK has never quite achieved the renown of some other Scorsese titles, but the title track—written especially for the film by songwriters Kander and Ebb (Chicago, Cabaret)—was a smash hit and became a rare contemporary jazz standard.
