About
The Art of Storytelling with Donna Ricci
Refining Your Approach to Prose and Performance
Storytelling is among the most ancient and powerful forms of communication, enabling people to connect with one another on the deepest levels. In this four-week class, you will join other lovers of storytelling to transform your ideas into brilliant and fascinating works of art. We will work within a shared theme (provided prior to the beginning of the first class) to develop unique stories that will captivate your audience and leave a lasting impression.
During this class, you will gain greater insight into narrative structure, timing and rhythm, and the relationship between pathos and humor. In each session, students will be able to share their work and receive constructive feedback from other members of the class. The series will conclude with an opportunity to perform your finished story in full.
Donna Ricci is a teacher, clinical psychologist, archery coach, and accomplished musician who weaves together a lifetime of creative passions into her love of competitive storytelling. Her essays and stories have been featured in the Boston Classical Guitar Society Newsletter and published in the recent anthology, Dog Tales. She has earned both the Judges Award, and the Audience favorite several times at The Actors Studio Full Moon Story Slams. She is a longtime resident of Newburyport, where she is currently exploring the art and science of baking with fresh milled flour.
