The East Boston Branch of the Boston Public Library is a LEED Gold–certified neighborhood library that opened at 365 Bremen Street in November 2013, continuing a branch legacy that began in 1870 with the first branch library in the United States. Situated along Bremen Street Park on the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway, the branch hosts community events in the Thomas M. Menino Community Room (80 seated) and offers views across the park toward the Boston skyline.
